Recipes! Book recommendations galore! Oh and I have another book out this fall!
That's right, my second book, THE PROPOSAL, comes out this fall! It starts with a public proposal gone very wrong, and it's also got cupcakes, tacos, boxing, a cameo appearance by a couple you may have already met, and a love story. Here's the link to more info about it on my publisher's website, but I had to post the cover above, because I can't even tell you guys how much I love it. It just makes me happy to look at it, and I hope you feel the same and want it on your shelves! You can preorder it from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, iBooks, Kobo, Google Play, or your local bookstore (just call them up!). Or you can add it on Goodreads and ask your local library to order it (you can do this over email with lots of libraries, and I LOVE it when people do this, I love libraries!). Pre-orders, Goodreads, libraries, and reviews (especially on Amazon or any other site where you can buy a book) all help me a ton, so if you're so inclined, I would love you to do one of the above (and if you haven't already, buy/read/review THE WEDDING DATE too!). I hope you all love this book!
Last week I asked people on Twitter to give me book recommendations for soothing books, because I kept picking up books that, while enjoyable, stressed me out, and it's been a stressful few weeks already at Chez Jasmine. Well, people CAME THROUGH. Click on that link and scroll down to see the responses; there are a bunch I'd already read and can vouch for, some of you recommended THE WEDDING DATE (thank you!), and there are a ton of others I can't wait to dive into the next time I need a break from everything.
Look, I try not to give you recipes in this newsletter I've already given out before, but I'm going to make a small exception here, with some tweaks (plus, there are more of you now, you may not have seen this recipe before!). Last year I told you all about the Moosewood "Caesar" dressing, which includes a hard boiled egg, blended with lemon juice and olive oil. Well, I made a version of this dressing for the salad I made for Easter dinner, and then I made it again this week for myself because it was so good. This time I added a big handful of parsley (I think this would work well with any leafy herb), and only one boiled egg, and it was a lot lighter and springier and perfect to throw on a salad with a bunch of fresh vegetables, and it was also great as a dip for carrot sticks. Plus, this will work if you have any dyed eggs still leftover from Easter.
Green Not Quite Caesar dressing
Parsley leaves, half a cup or more
1 boiled egg, cooled (but doesn't have to be super cold)
Lemon juice, 3-5 Tablespoons
Olive oil, 1/3 of a cup or so
1 anchovy
1 clove garlic, or one or two green garlic or green onion stalks, dark green parts removed, cut in 1 inch or so pieces
Salt
Add everything except for the olive oil to a blender or food processor. Blend everything for a few seconds, then drizzle the olive oil in as you blend it all up. Put the excess in a jar and keep it in the fridge (I usually make a dressing like this at the beginning of a week and use it all week).
Have a great weekend!
