Welcome to September, all! I found out that the Queen died yesterday while I was in the middle of an interview to promote Drunk on Love, and I am weirdly emotional about it. I don’t think monarchy should exist, and yet! (I also think the next year or two is going to be fascinating to see how everything shakes out with the rest of the family and Harry and Meghan and the British government, etc.) New King (????? that just sounds ridiculous) aside, I hope the first full week of September was a good one for all of you! Drunk on Love comes out in less than two weeks, and I can’t believe it’s almost out in the world.
And speaking of, I have a stack of Drunk on Love news!
My publisher is doing a Goodreads giveaway until September 18th, click here to enter!
I am doing events in Oakland, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, DC, Chicago, Oakland again, Atlanta, Toronto, and Napa, please come! The DC event is already sold out, but you can still order books to be signed there, and get the livestream! (I’m sorry that so many of the events are ticketed this time! The pandemic has changed book events, but I hope not forever). All of the details for the events also live here on the events page of my website.
Barnes and Noble is doing one of their preorder sales this week, for 25% off all book preorders! It only lasts until today, Friday, September 9th, so get to it! AND if you preorder Drunk On Love from B&N, you’re automatically entered to win a very cool prize pack that I wish I had! The grand prize is: a "You’re the wine that I want” prize pack stemless wine glasses from Williams Sonoma; a Sur la Table aerator; a Kim and Ono robe; a $50 Sephora gift card; a love candle from Harlem Candle Co; Recchiuti chocolates; and a signed copy of Drunk on Love; five runners-up will win a set of four Jasmine Guillory coasters, a Sur la Table aerator, and a signed copy of Drunk on Love. (If you were wondering, indeed no, I do not get any of those prizes for myself, which I think is very unfair!) (Well, except for the coasters, which are very fun, I’ll post a pic on my Instagram soon, and I might do a giveaway there if they send me enough).
Remember that you can always order signed books (Drunk On Love or any of my books!) from my local bookstore East Bay Booksellers! If you want the books to get to you publication week, order them by Friday, September 16th, so that I’ll have time to sign them before I leave for book tour. Just make a note in the order comments field to say how you want the books personalized!
Also! If you want more suggestions of books to preorder, don’t worry, I’ve got you! Here are a handful of books that I’ve either already read and loved, or am highly anticipating: Ellie Engle Saves Herself, by Leah Johnson; For Her Consideration, by Amy Spalding; Better Than Fiction, by Alexa Martin; A Merry Little Meet Cute, by Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone; Partners In Crime, by Alisha Rai; A Living Remedy, by Nicole Chung; Kiss Me, Catalina, by Priscilla Oliveras; Friday I’m in Love, by Camryn Garrett, and Before I Let Go, by Kennedy Ryan! Send your future self gifts!
If you are in or around Oakland, tonight I’m doing an event with Margaret Wilkerson Sexton, to celebrate her fantastic new book, On The Rooftop (the newest Reese’s Book Club pick!!!). And next week I’ll be doing an event with Taylor Jenkins Reed for her newest book, Carrie Soto Is Back! Please come to either or both!
No recipe this week, because my typing fingers are exhausted from adding all of those links, but I have a great one for you all next week, don’t worry!
Have a great weekend!
Jasmine
By the Book is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE! I've already listened to it TWICE.
