Hi friends!
Flirting Lessons comes out this Tuesday (April 8th!) and I leave for book tour this weekend. I’m heading to East Bay Booksellers to sign preorders in a matter of hours (approx. 10 am Pacific Time) so if you read this in time and want a signed preorder, and haven’t ordered one yet, order now! I’m in a frenzy of errands and packing and last minute details, but I’m so so excited to get to do so many events for this book, and hopefully to meet so many of you. Party of Two came out in June of 2020, and the only events I did were virtual (it was almost two years after that release before I saw an actual reader holding a copy of that book); I remember at one point soon after that release thinking “when and if I get to travel for book events again, I’m going to appreciate every minute of it, even things like getting stuck in the Atlanta airport.” And while I very much hope I don’t get stuck in any airport during this book tour (especially not Atlanta, only partly because I’m not scheduled to fly through Atlanta this time), my goal is to appreciate every minute of it. I have events in New York City, Brooklyn (sold out, but there’s a waiting list), Washington DC, Indianapolis, St. Louis, LA (also sold out, with a waiting list!), Orinda (in the East Bay), Houston, Portland, and Seattle, so please come! I’ll also be at the LA Times Festival of Books, one of my favorite bookish events out there.
Also, if you didn’t read this in time to preorder a signed copy from East Bay Booksellers, you can still order one from them, I just won’t get back there to sign it for a few weeks. If you can’t wait, you can preorder from any of the above bookstores (The Strand, The Ripped Bodice, Loyalty Books, Loudmouth, The Novel Neighbor, Reparations Club, Orinda Books, Blue Willow Bookshop, Grand Gesture Books, and Barnes and Noble Northgate) and I’ll sign your book while I’m there and they’ll send it to you.
And one more fun thing: this fall Disney Books is releasing a box set of the first four Meant to Be books! Aren’t they pretty? You can order them here, or anywhere books are sold!
This is when I usually give you a recipe I love, and when I have a book about to release I’m usually baking up a storm out of sheer nervous energy, but I’ve been traveling a bunch this spring and haven’t been baking as much as I want to. But I’m going to gie you this recipe that I’m dying to make, because it looks too good to keep it to myself. It’s this Glazed Donut Bundt Cake by Yossy Arefi, the creator of the Powdered Donut Snacking Cake that I’ve made approximately one zillion times and am obsessed with. Yossy sent this recipe out in her newsletter last week, and it’s killing me that I haven’t had time to make it yet, because it’s exactly the kind of cake I love (and also I love glazed donuts). So please go, make it, and then tell me how delicious it is and make me jealous. (Also, knowing me, I might make it in a frenzy tonight, eat one slice, and then leave it for my family to eat while I’m gone).
Before I close, a note of gratitude: it’s been two and a half years since I released a book, and I’m so grateful to all of you for sticking with me all of that time. I appreciate all of you more than I can say; thank you all so much for every preorder or hold at the library or like or emoji or comment or email, or recommendation of my books to someone you know. I love this book very much and I hope you do too.
I hope you have a great weekend, and I hope to see some of you next week!
xo

Woot! Can’t wait!
I'm sure the book was worth the two-and-a-half year wait and much more! Bravo! And thanks for the donuts recipe!
